About Surkeus Records

We acknowledge and respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory we organize and work and the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.

Surkeus Records (We say “surkeus” the same way you’d say, “circus”) is an indie label from Victoria, B.C. Canada, representing a small but dedicated team of artists. 

When we started Surkeus, we wanted to toss the whole "genre-specific label" idea out the window, and stay true to what we love - which is music - all types of music.  Surkeus Records remains dedicated to promoting diversity and artists in all genres. 

We pride ourselves in being more of a collaborative music community and artistic alliance than a typical label. Our main focuses are connecting artists and listeners, helping our artists expand their creative communities by being a part of ours, and supporting organizations in our cities that bring light and love into this world via fundraising and charitable efforts. 

We work closely with local record shops and campus radio stations from across Canada to get our music heard. We dub, duplicate, and manufacture all of our own cassettes and CD's in-house. We support local print and merch companies, and at the end of the day, do our best to give back by raising awareness for social causes, and collaborating with charities that could use the help of the music & arts community.  See our Fundraisers section for more information.
